Black South West Network’s over-arching strategic intent is to build dynamic, independent, and strong Black Asian and Minority labelled communities, businesses and organisations. The ambition is to empower these torch bearers to flourish while also deeply challenging systemic barriers, so that such organisations can forge a true path for themselves.

The Network is committed to this philosophy as the only way to unlock progress with truly tackling racial inequality. The organisation’s portfolio and strands of work feed into this key aim.

With scrutiny, accountability, representation and power as over-arching themes present in all of BSWN’s work, the 3 key broad areas are:

BSWN has made it a foundation stone of its approach to undertake robust and academically sound evidence-based research, to underpin its strategies. This pushes us all to give dedicated attention to the experiences, needs, wants, feelings and aspirations of the Black Asian and Minority labelled communities in Bristol and the South West region.
